Desert Cities 1st Marine Division Association

    MARINES HELP MARINES

Marines from the 1st Battalion 7th Marine Regiment currently fighting in Afghanistan received 34 cartons of personal hygiene products from the Desert Cities Mitchell Paige Chapter, 1st Marine Division Association. The shipment was to remind the 629 Marines and Sailors serving there that the "Old Breed Marines" in the desert cities were thinking
of them and continuing their support for their battalion. Last November, the 1st Marine Division Association hosted a N Y Steak Barbecue for the 1st Battalion at 29 Palms
    before they deployed to Afghanistan.

Over the Christmas Holidays the Old Breed Marines organized a fund raiser at Jensen's Finest Food Markets to provide complete Christmas Turkey Dinners for all of the families from the 7th Marine Regiment fighting in Afghanistan. This is part of the MARINES HELP MARINES policy.

One of the last units serving in Afghanistan, the 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment received over a ton of personal hygiene items from the Desert Cities Mitchell Chapter, 1st Marine Division Association in June.

The bulk of the shipment was baby wipes which are always in demand by combat Marines operating in Forward Operating Bases which offer Spartan living conditions. The 1/7 are scheduled to return to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in early October. LtCol Seth Yost, USMC, is the Commanding Officer.
