JUNE 20TH MEETING
Plan to join us to meet and hear from Jerry Loeb, retired Naval aviator and commercial airline pilot.  He is the author of ANTHEM, a dark, bloody tale that begins with the post 911 story of a tragic crash of a 727 airliner in Bolivia.

We also have invited the Santa Rosa Golf Club management and will present them with an appreciation plaque for their fine hospitality for the Wounded Warriors Golf Tournament last September.

Please make a reservation for this luncheon (760) 901-5494.

WOUNDED WARRIOR BBQ
We enjoyed another barbecue with the Marines from the 29 Palms Detachment on May 23rd.  Thirty + Marines and spouses were our guests at the barbecue held at Luckie Park in 29 Palms. Another good time for the Old Breed Marines and the New Breed Marines to get together and swap sea stories.,

Chefs Mike Walker, Charlie Garbarini and Jim Olson took charge of cooking the New York Steaks and did a great job.  We served them with lots of goodies with the steaks and patriotic cup cakes for dessert.   A drawing was held for $100 gift certificates to Ruth Chris, Pacifica Restaurants, Trader Joe’s and a beautiful set of 6 Marine Corps cocktail glasses.

Thanks to Mike Bales, Carl Brooks, Joe Daily, Charlie Garbarini, Jim Larsh, Gene McClendon, Jim Olson, Marilyn Paige, Dick Partee, Bob Shepard, George Stettler, Bruno Takacs and Harry Ziegler for their donations to cover  the costs for our guest Marines & wives.

LtCol Don Wright, Commanding Officer, on behalf of the Marines,  expressed  his appreciation and complimented us for the excellent steaks and great culinary skills of the chefs.

1ST BATTALION, 7TH MARINE REGIMENT
The Chapter was invited to their Dining Out Dinner at the Viceroy Hotel, Palm Springs.  Jim Sullivan, Quint Villanueva & wives were honored guests and sat at the head table with LtCol Seth Yost and SgtMaj Keith Coombs.  The battalion SNO’s, Officers and spouses attended the event.

LtCol Yost announced that SgtMaj Coombs will be leaving the 1/7 at the end of May to become SgtMajor of the 3rd LAR at 29 Palms.  The relief and appointment ceremony was held on May 31st.

The 1/7 is training and preparing for their next deployment to Afghanistan which is currently scheduled for early 2014.

NEW MEMBERS NEEDED
Please help us recruit new members to keep our Chapter growing,  prosperous and one of the top ones nationally. And, remember, WW II Marines will no longer be  required to pay annual dues.
