ANNUAL CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON
Our Ladies are invited to join us for our Annual Christmas Luncheon at 1130, Thursday, December 19th at the Classic Club, Palm Desert. Please wear a blazer for the luncheon. We will have a gift for each of our ladies.

Palm Desert Mayor Jan Harnik has confirmed that she will join us and will be the Guest of Honor.

DHSHS JROTC Instructor, 1st Sergeant Nichelle Webb and the Cadet Color Guard will also be joining us for lunch.

We are requesting each member to bring an unwrapped toy for a boy and a girl.  These toys will be delivered to the Armed Services YMCA at the Combat Center, 29 Palms along with other toys collected in December.

Marine Corps Headquarters, North Pole has just advised that they are sending a special emissary to the luncheon.  It will be interesting to find out who it is.

Be sure to make your reservations for lunch (760) 901-5494. Seating is limited.

GEORGE STETTLER JOINS THE EXECTUIVE BOARD
George, Stettler was elected to the board of directors at the November 21st board meeting.  This will be the second time that George has served on the board.

ANNUAL TOYS FOR 29 PALMS MARINE FAMILIES
We are enlisting the support of other organizations to make this bigger and better in 2013.
Toys will go to the Armed Services YMCA for distribution to the families before Christmas.

The Palm Desert Area Chamber of Commerce, Navy League, Marine Corps League, Windermere La Quinta, Householder Investment Group, Indian Ridge Home Owners Assn.,  Monterey C C,  Jensen’s Finest Foods stores in Palm Springs and Palm Desert, Marine Corps League and other organizations are joining us for the 2013 toy drive.  If you have someone who would like to help, please let us know so we can place a collection box.
Toys will be delivered to the ASYMCA on December 20th.

8TH ANNUAL WARRIOR APPRECIATION STEAK BBQ
We hosted and provided over 100 Marines from the 1st BN, 7th Marine Regiment as our special guests at the barbecue on November 9th.

Thanks to Chapter Friend Matt Zack, Jensen’s Finest Foods for supplying a high quality New York Steak.  Another big thank you to Doc Gillette for lining up all of the soft drinks as a donation from a friend of his. This will be the third year in a row that Gillette has done this which certainly help us with cost control.

Generous members like Charlie Garbarini bought 20 tickets  and donated 19 tickets for the Marines.  Chapter Friend Dr. Andrew Rothstein donated 10 tickets for the Marines.  We had two more guests donate 10 tickets each which helped us a great deal to cover the costs for almost half of the Marines.  Their generosity contributed to the financial success of this event.

JENSEN’S ANNUAL CHRISTMAS FUND RAISER
We are doing very well this year and will continue to collect donations at the Palm Springs and Palm Desert stores through Saturday, December 14th.,

Jim & Marcia Dowler made the first donation which was for $1,000 when they saw us at the Patriot Ride for Heroes several weeks ago.  They will join us at our Annual Christmas Luncheon so we can appropriately acknowledge their donation.

WOUNDED WARRIORS GOLF
We are planning to host another golf outing and barbecue for the Wounded Warriors Detachment at the Santa Rosa Golf Club in Palm Desert.  It will be Friday, January 31st.
For those of you that supported the last one at Santa Rosa Golf Club will remember the
outstanding patriotism and hospitality we received that day. One memorable event was the smoked tri tips they prepared for lunch that day.

More information will be in the December newsletter.  Circle the date to join us for golf or the barbecue lunch to support these Marines.

THE 16th ANNUAL TOUR DE PALM SPRINGS
Our recent financial success at the Patriot Bike Ride in La Quinta, last month has whet our appetite for this bigger event.

The annual Tour de Palm Springs is one of the finest charity cyling events in America.  Over 10,000 bicyclists will ride in suppot of 100 local charities in the Coachella Valley while being serenaded by over 25 bands and choirs of all types.

February 7th, 2014 will be the date that we set our MARINES tent from noon until 8 PM.

February 8th, 2014 Ride Day. Again, over 10,000 bicyclists will ride in 100 mile, 55 mile and 25 mile rides.

This will be a major event since there will be 1000 volunteers helping with an anticipated large crowd turnout.

We need our members to help man our tent to recruit new members, sell raffle tickets and solicit donations for the Wounded Warriors and their families.
