MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT                                   DICK PARTEE
Greetings fellow Marines and Corpsmen.
I was delighted to be elected to the chapter president for the next two years and thank you for your confidence.  I look forward to everyone’s continued support for all of the good things that we are doing.  The Chapter has done well with the Annual Luncheon to Honor Women Marines; Wounded Warriors Barbecues three times a year, Annual 7th Marines Barbecue, the fund raisers to support these events
and our support for the Marine JROTC program.

We are working on a couple of new fund raisers this year which we will talk about when details are firmed up.

I want to remind you that we need to build our membership with new members which is the life blood of a successful and healthy organization.  ________________________

APRIL 19TH MEETING
Speaker will be SgtMaj Max Torres, 3/11 from 29 Palms. Meeting will be held at Desert Falls Country Club at 1130. Please try to arrive before then so we can sit down promptly to start the meeting.

LUNCHEON TO HONOR WOMEN MARINES
Saturday, April 21st at the I W CLUB, Indian Wells.  Be sure to get your RSVP and check in by April 9th so we can guarantee space for you and your party.

Besides Women Marines from 29 Palms and the Guest Speaker from Camp Pendleton, we will also have a small group of female Marine JROTC Cadets from Desert Hot Springs High School. This will give them an opportunity to meet and mingle with the Women Marines.

We do need raffle prizes.  They will be acknowledged in the luncheon program provided each guest.  Please let me know what you can do to help (760) 219-8317.  Gift certificates for restaurants, Costco, etc are ideal donations.  They should be of at least $100 value.

MENTORING WOUNDED WARRIORS
Jim Sullivan
At the March 15th meeting we discussed a need for members to be mentors for  Marines who will be leaving the Corps.  We have an initial group of volunteers who met with LtCol Ted Wong, Commanding Officer, Wounded Warriors at 29 Palms on Sunday, March 25th to go over the concept and his initial plan for mentoring one of his Marines.  Each mentor will submit a brief personal bio to  him.  Next step,  the mentors will go up to 29 Palms to meet the Wounded Warriors sometime in the next couple of weeks.

A big thanks to Joe Daily, Charlie Garbarini, Paul Hoffman, Jimmie Martin, Dick Partee, Bob Shepard, Pete Van Vechten, Mike Walker and Jimmy Wheeler for joining me in supporting the mentor program.  We are looking for more volunteers since there are 46 Marines in the W W Program.
Please let me know if you want to help.  Marines Help Marines!

WOUNDED WARRIORS BBQ
Dick Partee has set up Monday, May 7th at Monterey Country Club for the next barbecue.  We will also treat them to a putting contest and an opportunity to use the driving range.

This will be the first time we have hosted WW barbecue. this year.   More details coming.

MAILING LIST
We need to update our Chapter  mailing list. It is  used  for invitations to our various events.  We need your help and are looking for your input on friends, neighbors and family that you would like included on this mailing list. They should be those folks that would support our luncheons, barbecues and fund raisers.  Please e-mail or mail those names to us at your convenience.

If every member would send 5 names  we would add 300 names to the mailing list.  Please help us.

9th ANNIVERSARY OF THE COL MITCHELL PAIGE AWARD
On March 21st, Dick Partee, Bob  Ferguson, George Stettler, Quint Villanueva and myself attended this event at the Infantry Unit Leader School at Camp Pendleton.  Marilyn Paige was the Guest of Honor and Speaker.  We saw 29 of the finest Staff Sergeants in the Marine Corps today.

Afterwards, SgtMaj Dylan Goldman and Major Richard Schellhaas, from the command, treated our entourage to lunch in appreciation for our support.

Major Schellhaas  will be our speaker for the August 16th meeting.

DONATION RECEIVED
We just received a $1,220 donation which was donated by friends of Cathy Rogers who is a gourmet cook.  She hosted 12 guests at $100 each and donated it to the Chapter.  She also sold a cook book for $20 which was also donated to us.

Member Dan Silvers made this donation happen.  THANKS DAN!
