WOUNDED WARRIORS UPDATE
As the war in Afghanistan winds down there are fewer Marines coming in to the Wounded Warriors Detachment. The detachment has decreased in size and will combine with the battalion at Camp Pendleton.

We hosted another barbecue with Choice N.Y. Steaks (from Jensen’s) that were grilled to perfection by the incomparable team of Col Mike walker and Charlie Garbarini.  Thanks again to Mike Bales, Charlie Garbarini, Dick Partee, George Stettler, Bruno Takacs, Quint Villanueva and Col Mike Walker for their presence and financial support for making this special event another hit with these Marines.

FUND RAISING
Those that know me, know that my passion has been to raise funds to support our Marines of the 7th Marine Regiment and the Wounded Warriors at 29 Palms. Every year it seems that we do a  better job as we get more experience and momentum in our Desert Cities.

We are off to a good start in 2014 with our annual Easter fund raising at Jensen’s Market.  We need to salute Bob Ferguson, Jim Larsh and Dick Partee who worked two shifts over the two day period. We also want to  recognize Mike Bales, Harry Ziegler, George Stettler, Jack Mennis, Jim Olson, Jack Rabinowitz, Gene McClendon and Bob Shepard. Thanks to    Friend of the Chapter, Joe Sanders  for pitching in since we were short on volunteers for the Saturday before Easter.

Bob Shepard has come up with a fund raising idea. On may 7th.    he has invited  homeowners at the Indian Ridge Community to   hear Col Mike Walker give a presentation on the Global Threats to the United States. Those interested are asked to make a $100 donation to  the Chapter.  For those that can’t come, he is asking for a donation.

Shepard and Quint Villanueva, who also resides at Indian Ridge, are promoting the event and asking  their fellow home owners to support it.
We welcome any ideas that would help the Chapter with fund raising.  Contact any of our board of directors members.  We will listen to any reasonable ideas.
