YEAR END FUND RAISING
Marines, we did one helluva job with raising money in November & December.  Besides our usual successes at Jensen’s Finest Foods, we also received $15,000 from the People Helping People Charity and a $5,000 from the Big Horn Charities.  This enabled the Chapter to donate 170 Christmas Turkey Dinners to junior enlisted families of the 7th Marine Regiment, including those deployed at Christmas with the 2/7.

The Chapter also purchased 100 $100 gift cards for the MCCS Exchange at 29 Palms.  Cards to be distributed to junior enlisted Marine families that need a little extra help at Christmas.

DHSHS MARINE CORPS JROTC
We were also able to increase our support for the Desert Hot Springs High School Marine Corps JROTC program. For the fifth year in a row the school was designated a Naval Honor School.  Just one in five Marine Corps JROTC units in the nation receive the honor each year.

Our Chapter increased financial support with another $7500 donation to the program (for a total of $12,500 in 2014).

TOY DONATION FOR THE MARINE FAMILIES, 29 PALMS
We had some partners this year from the City of Palm Desert, Palm Desert Area Chamber of Commerce, Palm Springs Air Museum, Indian Ridge and Monterey Country Clubs, Windermere Real Estate Offices in the Coachella Valley, Marine Corps League, Latino Peace Officers Association and our Chapter members.

The toys were delivered on December 19th to the Armed Services YMCA for distribution by Santa Claus and helpers the following day.

JENSEN’S CHRISTMAS DINNER FUND RAISER
Our deepest appreciation goes out to those members who worked the Jensen’s store during the 2014 fund raiser:  Bob Ferguson, Dave Mourhess, Jim Olson, Jack Rabinowitz, Bruno Takacs, Bob Shepard, Les Carlyle, Howard Lehman, Harry Ziegler, Nick Walz, George Moffatt, Dick Partee, Quint Villavueva, George Stettler, Dan Silvers, Gene McClendon and Jack Mennis.  Olson, Mourhess and Ferguson were awarded $100 gift cards to Jensen’s at the Christmas Luncheon for working the most shifts.

COL MIKE WALKER TO RETURN
Bob Shepard is organizing another speaking engagement for Walker at Indian Ridge Country Club on March 3rd.   Shepard did this last May and raised $3700 for the Chapter.
