MESSAGE FROM RICHARD PARTEE, CHAPTER PRESIDENT
A very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all.  As we enjoy our families and friends during this wonderful time of they year, it is most important that we remember our deployed brothers and even more important that we keep their families in our prayers.  The Chapter will again be doing all we cn to support the Marines and their families of the 7th Marine Regiment.  We also support the Wounded Warrior Battalion and the Armed Services YMCA which will distribute toys to Marine families at 29 Palms.  These toys will be gathered at various locations through out the Valley.

God Bless the Marine Corps.

3-4 HOLDS 238TH BIRTHDAY BALL IN LAS VEGAS by Mike Walker
It was an honor that they asked the Chapter to send a speaker for their belated Birthday Ball.  It was belated as the key commanders were in Afghanistan until 18 November conducting a leaders reconnaissance of the battlefield.  Both LtCol Jeff Kenney and SgtMajor Mike Miller are everything one expects of Marine combat leaders.  They were sincerely appreciative of everything we have done for the 3 / 4 and what we will do in the future.

The 3 / 4 will have the hard earned honor of deploying on the most combat tours during the Global War on Terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan: 5 tours in Iraq and 2 in Afghanistan.  They will start their eighth combat assignment in early 2013.  No other Marine infantry battalion has seen more time in action.

It was a humbling honor to represent our Chapter at that event.  Further, it needs to be said that I did my best to uphold the dedication and professionalism or our Chapter and, with that sense of support and duty, the mission was accomplished.  Our Chapter demands excellence and rest assured that the standard was met.

It also needs to be reemphasized that the Marines of 3 / 4 who will soon go into harms way appreciate what we do.  That carries the burden of redoubling our efforts to support them.  By God’s grace these wars are drawing to a close.  God willing, we may be able to attend their next Ball in 2013 in larger numbers.  Semper Fi,     Mike

CHRISTMAS TOYS DRIVE FOR THE MARINE FAMILIES
We are off and running with collecting donations for the Marine families at 29 Palms.  Members donated toys at the November 15th meeting. The Palm Desert Area Chamber of Commerce has joined us and are collecting toys from their members at their Palm Desert offices.  They expect hundreds of toys to be donated at their December 12th monthly mixer.

We plan to rent a large truck to deliver the toys on Friday, December 14th the Armed Services YMCA at the MCAGCC, 29 Palms.

PALM DESERT GOLF CART PARADE
The 48th Annual Parade was the best ever according to the Palm Desert Area Chamber of Commerce and the DESERT SUN.  The Chamber credited the 1st Marine Division Band for helping make the parade a success.

We also had an impressive Color Guard lead off the parade from the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, who we recently hosted 110 Marines for the annual  Warrior Appreciation Steak Barbecue.

Thanks to all of you that supported the parade and walked the parade route on a rather warm day. And, a special thank you  to our WW II Marines, Les Carlyle, Sam Huttenhower, Dorothee Irwin, George Schenkman, Ray Schum, Ray Wilburn & Bill Zagone,  who were given celebrity status by the appreciative and enthusiastic crowd.

CHASE BANK
Last December, 2011 we purchased 120 Christmas Visa Gift cards for young enlisted Marines in the 7th Marine Regiment.  Our former bank wanted to charge us $3.50 each.  So we started shopping around and  discovered Chase Bank who offered Visa gift cards at no charge.  We
Subsequently moved our Chapter account to Chase.  Since doing so we have enjoyed a good relationship with Chase and learned that they  offer CHASE MILITARY BANKING for active and veteran service members.

There are no service fees at ATM’s, free checks, free safe deposit boxes, no monthly service fees on checking accounts and more   More information is available at your local Chase Bank.  Ask about CHASE MILITARY BANKING for veteran’s.

Best Wishes to everyone for a Merry Christmas!
